Frenulum is a strand of connective tissue attached to the posterior part of superior labium and to the gingival right above superior incisors. When it is short and massive it should be undercut so it elongates. The procedure is fast, painless and doesn’t cause major ailments. Frenulectomy is important because along with mimic movements the labium pulls up the frenulum and the gingival, which causes exposure of superior incisors’ radices and columns. Besides it can cause a poor cosmetic effect such as diastem (a gap between first teeth). |
