Local anaesthesia is based on exclusion of pain sensitivity in peripheral neurosystem through applying anaesthetic locally near the nerves which provide pain from body areas where the procedure will be done. During the procedure the patient can be totally awake or can be lightly asleep. Anaesthesia can be applied once or a thin catheter near the nerve area and the medication can be given several times during long-lasting procedures. Local anaesthesia has less consequences for the body. Not all the patients of dental clinics want to have anaesthesia for example during having fillings. They have such a high pain tolerance threshold, that they don’t need anaesthesia. Also there are people who complain that in their cases anaesthetics don’t work. In some cases it can be a result of unproper application of the anaesthetic. Some are connected with the inflammation process. It’s a known fact among anaestologist that anaesthetics don’t work in the inflammated tissues, because of decreased pH in the area with inflammation. Though the dentist can avoid this area and anaesthetize a larger area.It must be pointed out that re action to the anaesthesia depends on individual sensitivity of the body. Everyone reacts differently. Though the most important thing is not to feel pain during the procedure

If after couple of hours after dental procedure involving anaesthesia you feel some pain, it is worth to take painkiller so the pain won’t develop. Though specialists assume that feeling some discomfort after dental procedure of ten has a phycologic basis. People just don’t take procedures in the oral cavity very good.

The most common complication after general anaesthesia are nausea and vomiting. There also can be dysfunctions of vision, equilibrium and elongated reaction time. It shouldn’t be forgotten that anaesthesia is a medical procedure and there is always a risk of different complications.
